Droodle Park

Druid Hill Park was founded in 1859, and then purchased by the city in 1860. It was among the earliest parks that were developed as part of a nationwide movement to provide large parks for urban dwellers in the picturesque European garden style (Central Park was established in 1858). Druid Hill lake began construction in 1863 and remains the largest earthen dammed lake in the country. The Baltimore Zoo was established in 1876 as a result of people donating various animals to the park.
